Safety

  • For the safety of the passenger on the duo bike, a seat belt is available
  • We can attach footrests to the pedals, ensuring the rider stays securely on the pedals, and even with straps if desired
  • The passengers’ seat is equipped with armrests

Operating

The vanRaam tricycles have:

  • 3 levels of pedal assistance

  • Each rider has access to gears (hub gear or Enviolo) meaning that pedal speed is adjustable for each rider separately

  • The seat is adjustable forward and backward to fit the rider’s size

  • The handlebar is (usually) adjustable

  • 1 large or 2 smaller removable batteries, providing enough capacity for one day

  • A charger for multi-day rentals

  • Low step-through on the Easy Rider or even no step-through on the Duo Bike

  • The passenger on the Duo Bike places their feet on the pedals but does not need to pedal.

Anti-theft measures

On every vanRaam tricycle, we include as standard:

  • A horseshoe lock

  • A chain lock

  • A GPS tracker hidden in the bike’s frame

  • Locks for the batteries

Comfort

On our vanRaam tricycles, the Easy Rider and Fun2Go, you sit on a seat that provides enough freedom of movement to comfortably cycle.

The vanRaam e-tricycles are equipped with a Silent H/T motor, giving you enough power to ride through dunes.

The Easy Rider has suspension under the seat.

Each vanRaam e-tricycle is equipped with a basket.

Raincover

If rain is forecast, we also provide a rain cover to properly park the vanRaam.

Cycling on a tricycle by yourself

Are you cycling on an Easy Rider tricycle by yourself for the first time? Then keep the following in mind:

If your condition is a loss of strength on one side, it can be difficult to compensate for this. The bike will tend to lean towards the side where you have more strength. This can be overcome, but it requires time and practice. Look for quiet moments and calm bike paths to practice. Don’t practice for too long (start with 30 minutes) and gradually build agility and strength. We will switch the brakes to your strong side for safety.

Have you fallen and do you no longer trust your two-wheeler? Riding a tricycle means you don’t need to balance. You only use the steering to change direction, whereas on a two-wheeler, you must steer to keep the bike directly underneath you. It’s quite a  different sensation to ride a tricycle and can be quite challenging during the first kms. It might feel like the tricycle is pushing you into the shoulder of the road.
It is a consequence of you(r reflex), trying to get a balanced biking position. This is no longer necessary; it requires practice, confidence in your abilities, and trust in the stability of the tricycle.

To those who feel a former fall off of a bike will affect the relaxed attitude necessary to learn how to ride an Easy Rider; Please book a Thuja threewheel e-bike. This e-bike has two frontwheels and a saddle as a seat. The Easy Rider is better for cycling tours, the Thuja is easier to learn to master.
