Rental Terms and Conditions
By entering into a rental agreement with FOETS, the following terms and conditions apply:
General
Anyone using materials owned by FOETS is considered a renter (even if no payment is required) and thereby tacitly agrees to these rental terms.
This material is referred to as “the rented item.” If there are multiple renters under one agreement, the person who enters into the agreement with FOETS is deemed the primary party responsible in the event of damage.
Insurance and Liability
FOETS provides standard insurance with each rental.
Damage not caused by you (e.g. theft) is covered, subject to a deductible of €250.
In cases of negligence or fault (e.g. failure to properly use the chain lock), you will be responsible for the repair costs or the current market value of the rented item (in case of theft).
Acceptance and Use
Before accepting the e-bike, you may take a test ride to check for any defects.
If defects are found, we will repair them on the spot or provide a replacement e-bike.
If you return the e-bike damaged or defective and it cannot be rented again, you are responsible for the repair costs.
If a defect occurs during your ride, contact FOETS immediately for repair or replacement.
We are flexible, but your actions should not result in damage or defects.
Renter’s Responsibilities
The renter is expected to take good care of the rented item, including:
Immediately arranging repair in case of a malfunction.
You may repair it yourself or have it done. If that’s not possible, contact FOETS.
Actual repair time may vary depending on your location and accessibility.
FOETS will prioritize other pre-arranged commitments but will aim for the soonest possible resolution.
Reasonable costs incurred (materials and labor) will be charged to the renter.
Use the e-bikes only on paved roads.
Shell paths are also considered paved.
Do not take the e-bike onto the beach or expose it to seawater.
Avoid large puddles where possible and ride slowly through them.
Seek shelter in heavy rain or protect the e-bike.
The bike is intended for one adult (except for the Fun2Go, which accommodates two).
A child seat may be used for children aged 0–4 years.
Older children may not be transported on the rental bike.
Park the bike so it does not obstruct others.
Always lock the bike when leaving it unattended.
Attach it to a fixed object (pole, tree, or fence) using the provided chain lock.
This prevents the bike from being stolen while not locked to something.
- The maximum permitted weight is 140 kilograms. It is NOT allowed to use the e-bike if you weigh more than this. (You are not insured if you exceed the weight limit; any damages will be charged to the renter).
In case of theft, you must submit the key, the cut chain lock, and a police report.
A charge of €250 will apply.
Liability Disclaimer
FOETS is not liable for any damage or injury resulting from use of the rented item.
Use on public roads or in traffic involves risk. FOETS is not responsible for any disadvantage or harm experienced by the renter.
Return Policy
If you are unable to return the rental bike on time, please call the rental provider to reschedule.
This is usually not a problem.
Cancellation
If you cancel your vanRaam e-bike rental due to illness, bad weather, or any other reason, no refund will be issued.
There are two reasons for this:
FOETS keeps the vanRaam e-bike(s) reserved for you, meaning we turn down other interested customers.
We have recently experienced many last-minute cancellations.
If FOETS must cancel (e.g. because the rented bike is returned damaged or stolen, or due to serious personal circumstances), you will receive a refund.
This only applies in cases of force majeure.
Privacy Policy
During the booking and rental period, FOETS stores and uses customer data to coordinate communication.
After the rental period, data is kept for a short time in case of hidden damage.
The renter remains the owner of their data.
FOETS will delete all customer data upon request at any time.
FOETS never uses customer data for marketing purposes, nor will it sell or share data with third parties.
FOETS reserves the right to track the location of the rented item via a GPS device installed on or in the bike.
Special Authorization (Exception to Privacy Policy)
In the event of theft by a customer (i.e. not returning the rented item), the customer authorizes FOETS to obtain location, contact, and identity data via:
FOETS may retrieve this information from accommodation hosts, banks, mobile providers, or government agencies.
All costs incurred in this process will be charged to the thief/customer.
By signing this rental agreement, the customer agrees to this clause.
